RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

1. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE

This Return and Refund Policy (“Policy”) governs all purchases of online courses, certifications, and re-certifications (“Services”) offered by Matthews Healthcare Education (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) through our website at matthews.education (“Website”). This Policy applies to all users, students, and purchasers (“you” or “your”) accessing or purchasing our Services, regardless of geographic location. By purchasing any Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Policy. Our commitment is to provide transparent refund terms while maintaining the integrity of our educational offerings for caregiver training and certification programs.


2. DEFINITIONS

For purposes of this Policy, the following terms shall have the meanings set forth below:

  • “Course Materials”: All digital content, videos, documents, assessments, certificates, and instructional resources provided as part of our Services.
  • “Enrollment Date”: The date on which payment is processed and access to a Service is granted.
  • “Caregiver”: An individual providing non-medical home healthcare services, personal care, or companion services to clients.
  • “Certification”: A credential issued upon successful completion of a course, including initial certifications and re-certifications.
  • “Digital Goods”: Intangible products delivered electronically, including but not limited to online courses and downloadable materials.
  • “Refund Period”: The timeframe during which a refund request may be submitted as specified in Section 3.
  • “Business Days”: Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays observed in the United States.

3. REFUND ELIGIBILITY AND TIMEFRAMES

3.1 Standard Refund Window

All refund requests must be submitted within seven (7) calendar days of the Enrollment Date. Refund requests submitted after this period will not be honored except as provided in Section 3.3.

3.2 Conditions for Refund Approval

A full refund may be granted if all of the following conditions are met:

  • The refund request is submitted within the Refund Period;
  • The purchaser has not completed more than 15% of the Course Materials;
  • The purchaser has not downloaded, printed, or accessed certification documents;
  • The purchaser has not received a Certification credential; and
  • The request includes the order number and registered email address.

3.3 Exceptions and Special Circumstances

  • Technical Failures: If the Company’s systems prevent reasonable access to purchased Services due to technical errors attributable solely to the Company, a full refund or credit may be issued at our discretion.
  • Duplicate Purchases: If identical Services are purchased in error, a refund for the duplicate purchase will be provided upon verification.
  • Course Cancellation: If the Company cancels or discontinues a Service before completion, purchasers will receive a full refund or credit toward alternative Services.

3.4 Non-Refundable Items

The following are non-refundable under all circumstances:

  • Services accessed or completed beyond 15% of total Course Materials;
  • Certifications that have been issued, downloaded, or shared with third parties;
  • Services purchased at promotional or discounted rates (unless otherwise stated);
  • Subscription renewals where access has been utilized during the renewal period;
  • Custom or enterprise-level training programs; and
  • Any fees associated with the Immigration Sponsorship Program.

4. REFUND REQUEST PROCESS

4.1 Submission Requirements

All refund requests must be submitted via:

  • Email to: General@Matthews.Education
  • Include: Full name, order number, purchase date, email address used for registration, and detailed reason for refund request.

4.2 Processing Timeline

  • Refund requests will be reviewed within five (5) Business Days of receipt.
  • Approved refunds will be processed within ten (10) Business Days of approval notification.
  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used at purchase.
  • Credit card refunds may take an additional 5-10 Business Days to appear on your statement, depending on your financial institution’s processing times.

4.3 Denial and Appeals

If a refund request is denied, you will receive written notification stating the reason(s) for denial. You may submit a written appeal within fifteen (15) calendar days of the denial notice to General@Matthews.Education. All appeal decisions are final.


5. EXCHANGES AND CREDITS

5.1 Course Exchanges

Within the Refund Period, you may request to exchange one Service for another of equal or lesser value. Exchanges are subject to availability and must meet all refund eligibility criteria outlined in Section 3.2.

5.2 Account Credits

In lieu of a refund, we may offer account credit equal to the purchase price, valid for twelve (12) months from issuance. Credits are non-transferable and hold no cash value.


6. ILLINOIS-SPECIFIC PROVISIONS

Illinois residents are advised that:

  • Under the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act (815 ILCS 505/), consumers have protections against deceptive trade practices in commerce.
  • This Policy complies with Illinois requirements for clear disclosure of refund terms prior to purchase.
  • Illinois residents retain all statutory rights under state consumer protection laws, which this Policy does not waive.

7. COMPLIANCE AND LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS

7.1 Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Compliance

This Policy adheres to FTC guidelines regarding online sales, digital goods, and advertising disclosures, including the requirement for clear and conspicuous refund terms.

7.2 Intellectual Property Protection

All Course Materials are protected by United States copyright law. No refund entitles you to retain, copy, distribute, or use Course Materials after a refund is issued. Continued use constitutes intellectual property infringement.

7.3 COPPA Compliance

Our Services are not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors without verifiable parental consent as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

7.4 International Users

Users outside the United States acknowledge that this Policy is governed by U.S. law. International users may have additional rights under local consumer protection laws, including GDPR protections for EU residents.


8. USER RIGHTS

You have the right to:

  • Request information about your purchase and refund status;
  • Appeal denied refund requests as outlined in Section 4.3;
  • File complaints with applicable consumer protection agencies, including the FTC or your state Attorney General’s office; and
  • Seek resolution through arbitration or small claims court as specified in our Terms of Service.

9. MODIFICATIONS TO THIS POLICY

We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to the Website with an updated Effective Date. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of our Services following any modification constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. Purchases made prior to modifications are governed by the Policy in effect at the time of purchase.

THIS POLICY DOES NOT CONSTITUTE LEGAL ADVICE. You are encouraged to consult with a qualified attorney regarding your specific rights and obligations. The Company makes no warranties regarding employment outcomes, licensure, or professional certification resulting from completion of our Services. Services are provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

12. ENFORCEMENT AND SEVERABILITY

Failure by the Company to enforce any provision of this Policy shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision. If any provision is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
