Description:

This Program of Study underscores the complexities of providing care, given the special challenges faced by the elderly such as but not limited to, multiple chronic illnesses. Understanding the different client’s condition helps the caregiver provide a more specialized care.

This Program of Study is equivalent to additional 4 (four) hour training to meet and exceed requirements defined by the Illinois Department of Public Health Administrative Code Part 245.

The Goal:

This Program of Study provides Home Services Worker and CNAs with a primary understanding of the specific needs of the geriatric population: Knowledge of signs and symptoms, strategies and lifestyle adaptations and functions for increased well-being. It also emphasizes the complexities of providing care, given the special challenges faced by the elderly such as but not limited to, multiple chronic illnesses.
